who I am

Born in northern Germany, I came to Berlin to study and stayed here. After my state examination in German and politics, I studied architecture and with this rare combination of subjects, I was very successful in helping to develop the most famous architectural icons in Berlin: first in housing construction, the large reform housing projects of the 1920s in the suburbs, then the Reichstag building and the new Bundestag buildings as well as the Federal Chancellery in the Spreebogen, and finally the reconstruction of the baroque facades of the Berlin Palace to form the Humboldt Forum on Museum Island.

Authentic and amusing

I am a passionate storyteller and I really enjoy chatting with you about the many amusing anecdotes that have accompanied the history and construction of this impressive reconstruction project. Here, for example, I am standing in the inner courtyard of the castle next to the new sandstone figures for the portal of the staircase (where there is no staircase anymore, that's another story...). When the former Minister of State for Culture came by to take a look, she asked in astonishment, "They're all...?" The General Director's quick-witted reply was, "But..." I'll tell you about it myself.
